A small group of protesters angry at the use of 1080 poison on the Coromandel have caused a stir this morning.
Police were called to the Kauaeranga Valley to move the protestors on after they parked in front of a gate, blocking trucks being used in connection with the drop.
Protester Jeff Wright says their aim is simply to let people walking in the forest know that 1080 is being used.
"One of the trucks were exiting and we did appear to be hampering it from exiting but we have moved...I think a bit of hoo-ha was made on their part."
"We've had four police cars arrive. We did offer them a cup of tea because that's what we were doing on the side of the road."
Wright says they simply pulled up on the side of the road to voice their opposition.
