A dark turn in the saga of the pygmy killer whales stranded in the Far North.

Five of the six oceanic dolphins re-beached themselves, and have been put down by DoC.

They initially beached in a twelve-strong pod on Ninety Mile Beach on Sunday.

There's now just a single member of the rare species at sea off the shore of Great Exhibition Bay.
