A disabled woman has spent a month without an access lift at her home, while waiting for the Ministry of Health to have it fixed.

Josie Haurau, from Auckland's North Shore, has spina bifida.

She relies on an access lift to get in to and out of her home.

Her mother, Donna, says it could be another three weeks before the lift is repaired.

"We're prisoners in our own home, we kind of feel like we're being punished in some way, we haven't done anything wrong. I mean how long do we have to wait?"
