UPDATED 9:05am: The Maori King is being moved to a hospital in Auckland today for further treatment after suffering a serious heart attack.
APNZ reports Tuheitia Paki was rushed to Waikato Hospital yesterday morning, and is now in a stable condition.
Maori Affairs Minister Pita Sharples says the family's awaiting an updated report from doctors this morning.
"There's a lot of support for the King all around the country. People are having prayer services and there's a crowd gathering at Ngaruawahia right now."
A karakia was held at Turangawaewae Marae for him last night.
The King revealed last week he has diabetes and cancer, and has stood down from public speaking duties to focus on his health.
