Firefighters are losing ground, in the battle to contain an out-of-control fire at the western end of Wanaka.
Fourteen fire systems are at the scene, while four helicopters are battling the blaze from the air.
Emergency services were called to the fire just before 3pm, and estimated the fire was at around 15 hectares.
Fire and Emergency acting shift commander John Ditmer said the fire is soaring up Mt Alpha.
"The fire is approximately 100 square hectares and it is burning up the hill in tussocks."
Nobody is hurt, but the fire is near a Wanaka Top 10 Holiday Park.
Amy McCulloch from the park told Newshub they were evacuating the full capacity park as a precaution.
“We’re not really in danger at the moment but it is really close, it’s behind the hills behind us so if there is a change of wind we could be in a bit of trouble.”
