Emergency services and council staff have been kept busy in Horowhenua tonight.
Surface flooding has been reported in north-east Levin, as well as isolated areas in Foxton Beach, Foxton and Shannon.
A number of roads are affected.
State Highway 57 between Levin and Shannon remains closed due to surface flooding.
Sandbags have been used by the Fire Service to prevent water getting into homes.
The rain has now eased, allowing floodwaters to subside considerably.
Horowhenua District Council staff will continue to monitor the situation and contractors remain out and about, working to return the roads to normal.
More rain is possible through the night.
