A suspected outbreak of norovirus in Nelson Lakes National Park DOC huts has the Department urgently sending in cleaners this morning.

They'll be flying, or boating, in to all the huts on the Travers-Sabine track, armed with anti-bacterial spray.
34 people from the track have suffered vomiting and diarrhoea since the weekend.
Nelson Lakes Operations Manager John Wotherspoon said this is a pretty unique situation.
"Wouldn't wish that upon anyone, and the less people we have in there, the less people who can transfer or keep the whole sickness going or spread it, so ideally if people can keep out of there, that would be better."
Wotherspoon said the cleaners will be in there from about 8:30 this morning, through until mid-afternoon.
"We will be wiping down the surfaces which look like they need a good wipe down and then we'll be spraying with the bleach solution, which is essentially out to kill any bugs that might be around them."
