A Christchurch nurse believes strike action is absolutely necessary.
The New Zealand Nurses Organisation has rejected the revised DHB offer - saying it doesn’t go far enough in making nurses’ and midwives’ workplaces safer.
Registered nurse Josie Butler is elated the pay offer has been thrown out the window.
She says nurses feel undervalued - and warns soon, no one will want to stay nursing in New Zealand.
"If I want to save any money I have to go over to Australia to work and immediately I get at least $10 more an hour for the exact same job, which is far better funded and a lot easier job."
If the parties can’t find a resolution, 24-hour-long strikes are scheduled on July 5th and 12th
