The NewstalkZB transmission tower for Hamilton at Ruru has been damaged with the wild weather.

This means Newstalk ZB on 97.0 FM is off air.

The top 3 sections of the tower have completely blown off, with the FM broadcast antenna a mangled wreck

The weather is so bad riggers will not be able to climb tonight and fix it.

It's hoped the mast will be fixed tomorrow.

NZME stations The Hits (98.6FM), Newstalk ZB (1296AM) and Radio Sport (792AM) are still on air. ZM, Coast, Hauraki and ZB (FM) are off air.
