There's a big mopping up job still in Hamilton, after blocked drains caused flooding during a big downpour.

The city had more than a month's worth of rain yesterday...in just 12 hours.

The City Council got flooded too...with clean-up call...and staff worked all day to respond.

The Council says it was unsafe and impractical to work through the night, and the job resumes today.

It's urging people to keep themselves, their children and their pets away from rainwater puddles and ponds.
