The Broadcasting Standards Authority has revealed Kiwis are less accepting of sexist and racist content.

The BSA conducted research to gain insight into community views on the standards Kiwis expect from broadcasters.

The research also showed more Kiwis are okay with bad language and nudity than in previous years.

BSA Chief Executive Belinda Moffat said the research suggests the internet plays a part in influencing people's attitudes.

"The research indicates that that was potentially strongly influenced by greater exposure to broad and diverse content through the internet," Moffat said.

"This research will be useful in guiding or informing the Authority when considering the good taste and decency standard."
