A fictional Game of Thrones language is more popular than Welsh or Scottish Gaelic.

Language learning app Duolingo reports 830,000 people globally have signed up to learn High Valyrian, a language spoken by draconic queen Daenerys Targaryen.

That's more than the 600,000 people worldwide who want to learn Welsh.

The language has 100,000 UK followers, while Scottish Gaelic has just 87,000.

Course followers will gain enough Valyrian knowledge to have a full conversation with other Thrones fans

The app also offers Klingon as an option, but not te reo Maori.
