Traffic havoc in Mount Maunganui this evening as police try to catch a wanted man.

Cordons have been set up, spikes have been laid down, and witnesses are reporting seeing armed officers.

Police have been seen in the vicinity of Portside Drive, Hull Rd and outside Bayfair.

A police spokesperson said they received information a man on outstanding arrest warrants has been seen driving a vehicle.
