For the first time, there's a set of NZQA qualifications in creativity.

The new qualifications include a certificate in watch and clock making and manufacturing jewellery and diplomas in animation.

Learning Connexion managing director Jonathan Milne says exciting innovations will emerge as a result of these qualifications.

"They are not only learning a subject area, they're learning how to make it work in the real world.

"From the whole point of view of where we are in the world, in New Zealand we are isolated, we have to be inventive."
