Police are responding to reports a train and a car have collided in Otago.

A police spokeswoman confirmed police were en route to the incident, at Phosphate Rd in Clarendon.

Emergency services were called shortly before 3pm.

Fire and Emergency were at the scene and St John has also been called, she said.

There were no immediate details about the number of passengers or if anybody was injured.
