The ACT Party want to repeal laws which makes offensive speech unlawful.

Leader David Seymour is proposing the Freedom to Speak Bill, which would repeal parts of the Human Rights Act. 

The Government is fast tracking a review of hate speech laws, following the Christchurch mosque attacks.

Seymour says while it should be a crime to threaten violence, nobody should be punished for 'insulting' speech. 

He says the answer isn't to introduce laws that suppress freedom, but to reinforce speech freedom.

"The correct way to fight terrorism is to not introduce new government laws suppressing freedom, but to reinforce freedom. "
