The victim of violent crime three years ago has found himself in court facing a raft of driving charges.
Dawson Reihana was arrested yesterday after allegedly leading police on a chase and trying to run over an officer.
In 2015 he was the victim of a 16-hour bashing that put a group of Mongrel Mob members in prison.
The 37-year-old appeared in Christchurch District Court today to face charges of reckless driving, crashing into police cars and failing to stop.
A woman burst into tears in the public gallery, after seeing Reihana with blood and bandages on his face.
Community Magistrate Leigh Langridge confirmed Reihana has seen a doctor.
Reihana was remanded in custody and will appear again tomorrow morning for a bail application
