Cantabrians are calling for the government to block any new water bottling consents.

Up to 3000 people have marched through the streets of Christchurch in an anti-bottling protest.

The bottling has caused controversy after Environment Canterbury granted overseas company Cloud Ocean Water, the right to take billions of litres from aquifers.

Protestor Wayne Hawker says the Resource Management Act needs changing to stop it happening again.

He says the government need to step in and listen to what the people of Christchurch are saying.
