One person who - as usual - won't be doing the census next week is the Wizard of Christchurch.
The Wizard has gone to great lengths to avoid filling the census form for many years, including sailing out to 'international waters' on the census date in the early 1980s.
He remains firm in the view that the process is a waste of taxpayers' money.
"Random samplings should be done, or head counts could be done much cheaper, and I'd do that, I'd join in that one. So - waste of money, not accurate, and basically it's bullying, it's bullying the public."
The Wizard doesn't believe he's breaking the law as he's not a real person.
"I was classified in 1982 by the New Zealand Art Gallery Directors' Association or Council, as a living work of art, which means I'm not a real person in the government's sense of the word."
The Wizard will be heading to Melbourne this weekend to avoid census day on March 6.
