Police are seeking a person of interest and witnesses in relation to an assault in the Christchurch suburb of Richmond. 

Police were called to an address on Medway Street at 5am, where one man sustained minor injuries.

They believe a second man may also be injured.

The man is described as being of Maori or Polynesian descent, between 25-35 years of age and is approximately six foot tall.

He left the address on a bicycle and headed north on North Avon Road.
