Police have found no evidence of criminal offending as they wrap up an investigation into spying claims against Southern Response Earthquake Services.
The State Services Commission laid a complaint with Police after finding the Southern Response Agency hired a private investigator from Thompson and Clark Investigations Limited to record several closed meetings with claimants.
Police say that the contractor recorded meetings doesn't constitute an unlawful interception of private communications because there was no reasonable expectation of privacy.
They say the contractor didn't use a false identity, and he was technically a party to the meeting's communications.
The Police did not find any evidence of other private conversations being recorded intentionally or inadvertently.Â
