Canterbury University Maori students gathered together to show their support for Ihumātao this afternoon.
About 30 peaceful protestors waved flags and played guitars on a Linwood street corner.
A spokesperson from Te Akatoki Maori Uni group says they are their to show their support and solidarity.
She says Ihumātao isn't just one isolated event.
She says we have seen it in the past in New Zealand and it's happening in Hawaii and standing rock in America.
"It's all part of a greater issue of not supporting indigenous rights."
Zion Tauamiti from BF'N action groups says they are standing in solidarity for the national action day.
"We just want to tell them that they love them and support them. We are getting lots of support from the community."
