A Christchurch man is facing jail-time after using a stapler to close his dog's wounds.
Jordayne Beaumont-Brown's Christchurch High Court sentence includes giving up owning companion animals for two years after he faced two charges with two dogs in 2017.
SPCA inspectors found his dog, Bruiser, lame and lethargic.
They say Beaumont-Browne had stapled her up without any vet care after the dog was injured while pig hunting.
The man was also convicted over failing to seek veterinary care for another dog, Bella, who had an infected nose wound.
Both dogs were taken away from their owner.
