A domestic violence campaigner is praising Christchurch MPs for their commitment to ending family harm.
David White, whose daughter Helen Meads was murdered by her husband, was in Christchurch last night in the latest stop on his nationwide tour.
White spoke at a public meeting set up by National MP Nicky Wagner to advocate for a community-based approach to calling out family violence.
He said it's great to see a local MP be so proactive in bringing their community together.
"We need more MPs to follow Wagner's example to help end the cycle of violence once and for all."
White lost his daughter Helen Meads to family violence in 2009.
He said he hopes everyone who came along picked up that the biggest killer is our own silence.
"People should realise something as small as asking for help can make a big difference."
