A large crowd has turned out in Christchurch to celebrate the Crusaders Super Rugby victory over the weekend.

The Crusaders won their third Super Rugby title in a row on Saturday, with a decisive win over the Jaguares.

The Christchurch Art Gallery is hosting a public red and black party at midday today, with the Investec Super Rugby Trophy on display until 2.30pm.

Newstalk ZB reporter Jack Loader is at the scene and says Captain Sam Whitelock and coach Scott Robertson addressed the crowd.

"They have gone inside the gallery with the rest of the team, where the team is going to sign autographs and take photos."

Loader says that they didn't want to do a parade as they did last year, as they wanted to meet everyone rather than be stuck on floats.

The win has been met with largely positive reaction from rugby commentators and fans, though Newstalk ZB host Jack Tame was critical of the team for not acknowledging the Christchurch terror attacks after their win.
