A Christchurch property developer says his staff have been threatened, and equipment has been vandalised by unhappy residents.
The development on Perth Street will see 21-two bedroom units built costing just over $400,000.Â
Managing Director of Williams corporation Matthew Horncastle said vandalism at the site has cost him $20,000 and left staff feeling unsafe.
"These residents are completely out of line. The fact that they've been vandalising my site. They threatened one of my staff, told him to have his face put in battery acid."
However, residents say they were not properly consulted about the development and the street is too narrow to handle the extra traffic
Spokesperson for Perth Street Residents, Greg Partridge said the development will mean existing houses will have no privacy.Â
"Much to our disgust and horror, the developer has actually come in and culled all the trees on the site. The neighbours adjacent to the property will now have absolutely have no privacy whatsoever."Â
He said they also have safety concerns with a larger number of vehicles on the street.
