A private firm is stepping in to fund housing projects, with prices expected to boom again soon.

Investment fund Community Finance is raising money for community projects which increase housing availability.

Chief executive James Palmer says although the Government has taken some action, many people are still being shut out of the housing market.

He told Tim Dower his company is financing community housing groups that can build homes for less.

Palmer says these groups struggle to keep up with rising demands and increasing costs.
