Simon Bridges says the Government's latest move to win over the public on free trade deal is an attempt to salve their conscience.
National's leader says the establishment of a Trade for All agenda is Labour's attempt to convince the public free trade is good for them despite their opposition to the likes of the CPTPP when they were in opposition.
"A marketing gig, yet another working group on top of I think its 135 at the moment, isn't the answer."
He says they'll need more than consultation on the renegotiation of the FTA with China.
"The China FTA upgrade is certainly in jeopardy as a result of Winston Peters pretty trenchant remarks. I think some of the sly comments he has made in New Zealand media that we know the Chinese government has not been happy about."
The Government is establishing a Trade for All Advisory Board which will be chaired by former diplomat David Pine with the rest of the board to be announced shortly.
