There is disappointment over the continued spread of kauri dieback in Auckland.
An infected tree has been discovered in Kauri Park in an area previously not thought to have been affected by the disease.
Auckland Council's biosecurity manager Phil Brown is disappointed after kauri dieback disease was discovered on the North Shore, and says Aucklanders need to help prevent further spread of the disease.
"People need to do their bit and make sure they are cleaning their shoes before they go into any park and again on the way out using the hygiene stations provided, and scrubbing off any further dirt from their shoes at home."
Brown says track upgrades will be necessary to try to stop the disease spreading.
"Auckland Council will be working with local boards to work out whether more parks need to be closed, and what walking tracks need upgrading."
He says the Council will need to make sure it is using the money from the 'Natural Environment Targeted Rate' to upgrade tracks, to make it harder for the disease to get around.
