Auckland's City Rail Link is using a novel approach to try and get back a large mural.
The 10 by one metre PVC artwork of a train-waka hybrid was hung at Galway Street the Friday before Christmas.
It was stolen straight off the wall just over 12 hours later.
City Rail Link communications manager Carol Greensmith said a sign has been put up that plays on the theme of the Where's Wally? books.
"So the sign just say 'Where's waka' and has a picture of it of what it's supposed to look like, and it says this used to be here, it's gone sailing, have you sighted it, if so, message us on Facebook."
Greensmith is hoping the thief will have a change of heart.
Anyone who was in the area and saw anything should contact CRL or police.
