Leg eight of Volvo Ocean Race begins tonight

By: Brenton Vannisselroy | Latest Yachting News | Sunday June 10 2012 20:12

A week-long dash awaits the fleet on leg eight of the Volvo Ocean Race.

The six boats will leave Lisbon tonight heading out to the Atlantic before turning north east to Lorient.

The leg is less than 2000 nautical miles in length.

Groupama holds a slender eight point lead over Team Telefonica in the overall standings, with Puma Ocean Racing and Camper Team New Zealand also still in the hunt for the overall title.
