Williams takes US Open

By: Matt Brown | Latest Tennis News | Monday September 10 2012 12:13

Serena Williams has won a brilliant women's singles final at the US Open in New York.

The fourth seeded American has come back from 5-3 down in the final set to win 6-2, 2-6, 7-5, over Victoria Azarenka.

Williams is stunned.

"Honestly can't believe I won, I really was preparing my runner up speech because I thought man, she slams so great so I'm really shocked today. I'm so happy to have gotten this so far."

It's William's fourth US Open title and her 10th win in 11 matches against Azarenka.

Serena Williams has now won 15 grand slam titles.
