World number one Novak Djokovic has been sent packing from the Madrid Masters. Djokovic has been ousted 7-6 6-3 by fellow Serb Janko Tipsarevic in the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, Serena Williams is pleading with the players to move on and see out the tournament instead of moaning about the controversial blue court. Williams has won through to the semi-finals after smashing fellow former world number one Maria Sharapova 6-1 6-3 in the quarters. While she, like Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are against the new blue clay, she says it's not going to change this year. "This isn't the best clay court and it's definitely not what they play with at Roland Garros but it's what they use in Madrid and I think with all the feedback, maybe next year they'll add more clay." Victoria Azarenka is through to the semi-finals after her 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over China's Li Na. In the men's there have been straight sets wins for Juan Martin del Potro over Alexandr Dolgopolov and Tomas Berdych over Fernando Verdasco. |
