Erakovic happy to get out of Madrid

New Zealand tennis number one Marina Erakovic is happy to get out of Madrid.

Erakovic has been beaten in the double to go with her singles loss to third seed Petra Kvitova.

Erakovic won't miss the unusual blue clay courts which have been the subject of so much controversy.

"I'm heading over to Rome on Thursday so have a few days there, obviously it's different surface, think it will be a bit more normal."

Meanwhile Novak Djokovic has described the Madrid Masters blue clay courts as "impossible" after winning through to the third round this morning.

The world number one and defending champion has beaten a Spanish journeyman ranked 136 in three sets.

Djokovic says all he could do was try to keep the ball in the court.

"For me, that's not tennis, either I come up with football shoes or I invite Chuck Norris to advise me on how I should play on this court."

Men's second seed Rafael Nadal and third seed Roger Federer open their campaigns in Madrid tonight.

Leading women, Victoria Azarenka, Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams have all had no problems reaching the third round.
