Manchester City move toward English league title

By: AAP | Latest Football News | Monday May 7 2012 8:47

Manchester City's moved to within touching distance of a first English league title in 44 years after Yaya Toure scored twice in a 2-nil win at Newcastle.

The English Premier League title will be decided on the last day of the season.

Manchester City's beaten Newcastle 2-nil and Manchester United has won by the same score over Swansea leaving the City rivals level on points but with City eight goals better off with one game remaining.

Manchester City Manager Roberto Mancini finally accepts his side controls its destiny.

He says now it is in their own hands.

Manchester City can clinch the title at home to QPR next weekend.

QPR are out of the relegation zone after a 1-nil win over Stoke while Bolton's in the bottom three after being held to a two all draw by West Brom.

Aston Villa are safe after a one all draw with Tottenham and QPR are two points clear of the relegation zone after a late 1-nil win over Stoke.

Bolton, who had looked as if they were climbing out of the bottom three, remain in the drop zone after a 2-2 draw against West Brom.

Fulham's beaten mid-table rivals Sunderland 2-1 and already relegated Wolves have drawn nil all with Everton.
