Woman found dead named

Police have released the name of the woman found dead on Wellington's Mt Victoria.

She was Sofia Athanassiou of Newtown.

The 39-year-old's body was found by a group of joggers on Monday off a running track near Alexander Park, above Wellington Girls' East College.

Detective Inspector Paul Basham says a post mortem carried out yesterday was inconclusive.

He says police are now awaiting the results of further laboratory tests which may help explain how or why she died.

Those tests could take up to six weeks.
