Mangawhai ratepayers want independent opinion

By: Dana Kinita | Upper North Island News | Monday August 20 2012 18:57

Mangawhai ratepayers want an independent opinion on the financial problems of Kaipara District Council.

Ratepayers chair Bruce Rogan says they've hired a forensic auditor to find what caused the council's debt to escalate nearly $90 million.

He says there's a conflict of interest with the Audit General investigating as it's like the police investigating the police with the many of the council's problems due to the failure of Audit New Zealand.
