By: Lesley Deverall | Upper North Island News | Thursday April 26 2012 15:55

Taupo police say the driver seriously injured when his van crashed on a bend on Somerville Road near Tirau last night was not wearing a seat belt.

It appears the 52 year old was thrown from the vehicle.

The crash was discovered around midnight and police want to speak with anyone who drove on Somerville Road between 8.30pm and midnight.
