Cold fronts to sweep across South Island

By: Natasha Burling | Lower South Island News | Tuesday May 15 2012 10:43

South Islanders are being warned to brace for cold weather.

A low that passed over the island overnight is pushing out to the south east of Dunedin.

Weatherwatch says several cold fronts, each one colder than the last, will spread across the country.

The lower South Island is expected to get snow down to 300 m tonight with hail showers to sea level.

However, there's no snow forecast for any of the main centres, including Queenstown.
