A group of recently red zoned homeowners in Christchurch want to know why they have less than a year to move out. More than 400 residents from Richmond, Avonside and Linwood have signed a petition to Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee. It's calling for the government to reconsider the April 2013 deadline for them to accept the government's buy out offer and move out - when other red zoners have been given two years. Richmond spokeswoman Anita Hansbury says they feel short-changed. "It should be two years from the date we received the letter, that would allow for all the settlements and all arrangements to be staggered and avoid bottlenecks, and allow us to stay in our houses, which are perfectly livable."
