Chch hoteliers recognised for post-quake actions

| Latest Christchurch News | Friday June 1 2012 12:02

Two Christchurch hoteliers have been recognised for their work in trying circumstances.

Scott Wallace of Millennium Hotels and Resorts, and Tim Dearsley formerly of All Seasons Christchurch have been acknowledged at the New Zealand Hotel Industry Awards.

In the immediate aftermath of the September 2010 quake, Mr Wallace's quick thinking ensured the safe relocation of guests in the badly damaged Copthorne Durham Street to another hotel.

He also worked to move people away from The Press building before it collapsed in the moments after the February quake.

Meanwhile Mr Dearsley's efforts have seen around 1000 pieces of abandoned luggage returned home to their owners in 37 countries.
