One person's been seriously injured in a crash after a car went the wrong way down an Auckland motorway.

The incident happened just after 4 this morning on the northbound lane of the Southwestern Motorway, in Mangere.

Fire Service spokesman Jaron Philips says the car travelling the wrong way crashed into a truck.

He says one person was trapped for a time before being taken to hospital with serious injuries.
