Hundreds of kilos of fruit removed

| Latest Auckland News | Friday May 18 2012 8:02

Hundreds of kilograms of fruit has been removed from Auckland's fruit fly exclusion zone.

The zone was set up last Thursday after the discovery of one Queensland fruit fly in Avondale.

No one living in the zone can take fruit in or out.

More than 100 bins are spread throughout the zone so people can dispose of their fruit.

The Ministry for Primary Industries says 345 kg of fruit from the bins has now been removed.
