Public's say might be limited by Govt - Labour

| Latest Political News | Monday July 30 2012 11:24

There are concerns from Labour that the right of the public to have their say on regionally significant projects, might be limited by the Government.

Energy and Resources Minister Phil Heatley says some projects such as the decision on the mine on the Denniston Plateau will have limited public participation, as part of changes to the Resource Management Act.

Deputy Labour leader Grant Robertson says those proposals are "over the top".

He admits there are some issues with the Resource Management Act, but says the public deserve to have their say.
