Bill could give all families access to tax credits

By: Felix Marwick | Latest Political News | Friday August 17 2012 11:43

Labour's to back a Green Party Bill that would give all families access to in-work tax credits, regardless of employment status.

The move was a Labour Party policy at the last election for Working For Families, but the Party's backed away from the proposal since.

Labour MP Jacinda Ardern says they will support the Green Party Bill to its first reading, and maintains there's nothing inconsistent about her Party's position.

"We always have had a range of options on how to address that and we put one of them up last election, but we continue to look at the range of options that exist."
