By: Jacqui Stanford | New Zealand News | Saturday August 11 2012 20:37

Christchurch police are investigating two separate assaults on young women and are appealing for public help.

The first of which being the assault of a 35-year-old woman in her Burwood home last night.

Detective Greg Beer of the Papanui Police wants to hear from anyone who saw any person acting suspiciously in the Burwood Road and Lake Terrace Road area between five o'clock and eight o'clock yesterday evening.

He is also asking anyone who had thefts or break-ins over the last week to ensure they report them.

Police are also investigating an attack on a 20-year-old woman last night.

The woman was walking to her home in Casebrook Street when she was grabbed by a man and wrestled to the ground.

Her attacker has been described as an overweight Maori in his late teens and six feet tall.

Police are wanting to hear from anyone who may have information.
