15 complaints upheld against male nurse

| New Zealand News | Wednesday June 27 2012 9:51

Complaints against a male nurse who acted inappropriately towards two female students have been upheld.

The Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal has upheld all 15 complaints the pair made against the Masterton nurse.

The tribunal has found the nurse acted inappropriately and unprofessionally when he touched and attempted to kiss the students who were on placement in the mental health unit of the Wairarapa District Health Board.

It found the conduct was particularly inappropriate because there was a significant power imbalance and the nurse was required to be a role model, but didn't meet the standard.

The tribunal is now receiving submissions as to a penalty.
