Brownlee discussing quake lessons in Japan

By: Felix Marwick | New Zealand News | Monday July 2 2012 5:37

Gerry Brownlee is in Japan discussing lessons learnt from the Canterbury earthquakes.

The Earthquake Recovery Minister is attending a ministerial conference on disaster reduction.

He'll give a keynote address on what our authorities have learnt from the Christchurch experience in terms of disaster preparedness and emergency response.

Mr Brownlee says the help Japan and other countries gave New Zealand last year was immense.

He says it's now time to add to international research that'll allow all communities to prepare for, and recover from, such calamities.
