Govt proposal may raise issues with Work and Income

By: Newstalk ZB staff | New Zealand News | Friday May 11 2012 16:07

The Public Service Association believes the Government proposal to offer free long-term contraception to beneficiaries will raise serious issues for Work and Income case managers.

State-funded contraception will be made available to female beneficiaries and their daughters.

PSA National Secretary Brenda Pilott says many case workers feel it to be a medical issue and they don't feel confident about raising the issue with clients.

She says the policy has the potential to affect the professional relationships case managers have with their clients.
