NZ Bus has opened a trust for the family of a Lower Hutt bus driver, who died at the Waterloo interchange depot on Friday night. Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding Herman Curry's death, but four teenagers have handed themselves into police and have been charged with stealing the bus cash box. NZ Bus CEO Zane Fulljames says an account has been opened with BNZ, with a $15,000 contribution from the company. He says the industry, funders and lawmakers have an opportunity to make some good come from a terrible incident. Mr Fulljames adds NZ Bus has reduced risk by reducing the amount of cash in the business through Smartcard ticketing systems. Photo: Herman Curry (supplied) |
